Barnes And Noble's Contemporary Nook Wireless Portable Reading Device Gets Ready For Battle With Amazon.Com's Digital Book Reader
The up-to-the-minute Nook wireless book reader being sold by B&N, the worlds main book shop with over 1,300 branches, seems set to lock horns with the worlds number one selling electronic book reader, the Amazon kindle.
Though not long unveiled, the Nook electronic book readers are looking to mess up Amazon's feathers even more by taking it on directly in a part of the market, that up to yet, the Kindle has dominated. As a result now we have 2 large companies ready to go head to head, with the might of Amazon.com, on all fronts. Sony in recent times increased the range of their library at the Sony-Store and discounted the prices of their digitally shipped books to equal that of Amazons and hopefully Barnes and Noble, who have always been in the equivalent ballpark price wise, will equal them title for title as well.
Now the main news flash for consumers has to be the shift away from proprietary file formats used by Sony corp. in the early days and nevertheless used by the Kindle now. To explain the state of affairs I will use Kindle2 as an example, keep in mind this is still the situation with the Kindle so it makes it more clear.
